From our staff - many of whom have been with us since we opened - to local farmers and fishermen to, of course, our wonderful customers, Sweetgrass is all about the people we work with every day.

We are immensely proud of our staff. Not only do we have talented cooks in the kitchen, we've got a former business owner, students, a golf professional, several people with their Master's Degree and even someone with their pilot's license!

Lauren and Jeff Tillapaugh, the proprietors of Sweetgrass and the Outpost Market moved to Beaufort from Ithaca, NY and opened Sweetgrass in March 2010. You'll find Jeff and Lauren working alongside the staff, behind the bar and behind the scenes to ensure that you enjoy Sweetgrass as much as we enjoy sharing it with you.

Prior to our move, Lauren was the Director of Marketing and Events for Aurora Inn, Inc., a luxury hospitality management group in the wine-producing Finger Lakes region of New York and has planned more than 100 weddings and many other events. Jeff, formerly the Director of Recreation and Fitness at USCB’s Bluffton campus, is now at Sweetgrass full-time, where you'll often see him behind the bar. He has worked in the Hospitality Industry as a bartender, server and front desk agent, has been a teacher and coach at all grade levels. If you're a graduate of Agnes Scott College, Cornell University, Ithaca College, SUNY Cobleskill or SUNY Cortland, be sure to say hello - Lauren and Jeff have degrees from all of the above!
